History
Our partnership with a Portuguese factory begins with a remarkable tale of sustainability. They use looms that were destined for the scrap heap, breathing new life into them to create our unique wool and cotton pieces.
Every piece starts with the flock. In the spring, before summer's heat, sheep are sheared, harvesting the wool that becomes the heart of our winter wear. This not only provides a premium raw material but also ensures the comfort of animals during warmer months.
The wool, varying in quality across the fleece, is meticulously hand-sorted to separate the finest fibers from impurities. Cleansed with rainwater, it's then carded to separate the fibers and combed to align them for spinning into higher quality yarn.
Once spun, the yarn is dyed using certified, organic colors to achieve the desired palette. Before weaving, each piece is meticulously planned, considering color, pattern, and dimensions.
The weaving process itself is a complex dance of threads. The warp threads are interlaced with the weft, creating the fabric. After weaving, the fabric is finished with rainwater, biodegradable detergents, and steam to soften and relax the fibers.
The result is a testament to our commitment to quality and sustainability. Every piece tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and respect for nature."
